Career and Jobs Programme

Most of us spend more than 50% of our waking lives working. Yet we devote little time to establishing the correct careers and to finding the right jobs, partly because it requires a lot of thought and we prefer DOING things to THINKING about them.

It is also partly because people are afraid of rejection. We seldom look for a job so do not become experienced and skilled at doing so.

Your CV is an advertisement not an HR record. If you present it like a record, so will they – by filing it. Create a job opportunity in the companies you want to work for by making the right approach. Start with a compelling cover letter and a memorable CV. They will help you get the vital first interview.

If you only rely on Headhunters and the Classifieds, you are restricting yourself to companies with job postings or vacancies. Identify companies needing your knowledge, experience, skills and potential. A good company will always hire exceptional talent.

Being turned down for a job can be a nasty rejection. Here’s how you can take charge of your career goals. The Career and Jobs Programme provides you with what you need:

  • to get your first job
  • to get promotion within your existing organisation
  • to change jobs and develop your career
  • to identify your STRENGTHS and help you to capitalise on them
  • to help you to recognise your UNIQUE SELLING PROPOSITION
  • to understand your WEAKNESSES and help you to overcome them
  • to build CONFIDENCE in your COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
  • to take you through a PERSONAL MODULAR PROCESS to meet YOUR SPECIFIC NEEDS
  • to CONTINUALLY MONITOR your career progress

Conducted online via Skype and email, you get personal supervision by your Terrific Mentor at every stage of the Career and Jobs Programme.

Optional Modules:

1) Basic Career Health Check (BCHC)
Conducted via email, a Terrific Mentor will review of your CV, your career to date, your qualifications and your experience. You will get feedback and comments on the state of your career, and if necessary, suggested actions to improve it. We recommend that everyone does a Basic Career Health Check within the first two years of starting their current job. WARNING: BCHC does not itself cure your career problems.

S$250

2) Future Financial Needs
Estimate your salary and negotiate your terms more successfully by working out how much you need for your commitments and life style while at the same time knowing what you are worth. Your future financial needs may not be all that drives you to work but it is a vital part of providing you with (a) a comfortable and happy retirement (b) a sense of having made provision for those for whom you are responsible who (for whatever reason) cannot provide for themselves. Conducted by email, a Terrific Mentor will guide you through the Future Financial Needs exercise.

The above exercises are completed in your own time and emailed to your Terrific Mentor. He/she will review your work and respond with feedback, comments and, usually, more questions.
