“Tell me something you cannot buy and for which you pay nothing.”

Wisdom is:

  • understanding the fundamentals of human nature, good, bad and irrational
  • knowing when to remain silent and when to speak; wise people often talk less
  • about courage to tell the truth and confronting the forces of darkness
  • about saying the obvious in an acceptable way
  • successfully judging when to bend, break and disregard rules
  • letting go of the past - tomorrow is as yet unborn; you can be its parent

Wisdom:

  • enables you to see through the nonsense to the reality of a situation
  • improves your judgment of people and situations
  • gives you balance in your life
  • allows you to help other people
  • makes you a counsellor, guru, adviser, friend, Mentor

Does wisdom pay? If so, how?

Making better judgments allows you to buy and sell more profitably, to hire and fire more rationally, to invest and disinvest more safely. But to take a course on wisdom solely for the purpose of making money is not wisdom but foolishness because wisdom enhances your life, not just your pocket.

Can anyone be wise? Can you learn it? If so, how?

You can learn how to become wise. Moderate intelligence is necessary but not a high level of education. Some of the wisest people are totally uneducated. You can learn the basics of wisdom. Once learnt, you will develop it yourself. Wisdom is not about theory, it is about practical application.

To learn it you need the ability to relate one situation to another. You also have to learn to reflect on what happens in your life, to think through why things happen and how you can learn from them.
The way to learn to become wise is through a series of exercises that make you work out what an event means and how the lessons from it can be applied in the future.

Can you teach me wisdom, John?

I’ll ask you a few questions, then I’ll tell you if you will benefit from my WISDOM Programme.
If I don’t think you will, I say so. I’ve never told anyone they couldn’t yet.
