Dr Tan Chi Chiu has been involved in training, mentoring and coaching youth, professionals and leaders for over 25 years. Leveraging his experiences in diverse and varied leadership roles, Chi Chiu has now entered the coaching and mentoring field with the intention of helping more leaders and individuals navigate successfully through challenges and changes in their lives and where they work.

Chi Chiu’s coaching and mentoring expertise has been honed through youth training on community service expeditions, organizing and leading numerous international humanitarian disaster relief projects, appointments to organizational management and board leadership positions in the public, private, military and non-profit sectors, and as a volunteer coach and mentor. He was conferred military medals by Singapore, United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia for his leadership of the Philippines earthquake disaster (1990) and Singapore’s Gulf War mission (1991). He was awarded the Singapore Youth Award, Excellence for Singapore Award, Commonwealth Youth Program Asia Award for Excellence in Youth Work, Commonwealth Youth Service Award and Minister for Health Awards for humanitarian assistance to regional disasters.

His current contributions include being Chairman of the Lien Centre for Social Innovation at SMU, elected Council Member and Chairman of the Medical Ethics Committee of the Singapore Medical Council, Board Member of SATA CommHealth and National Youth Achievement Awards and Chairman of the Endoscopy Committee and Member of the Medical Advisory Board of a private hospital. He has been Board Member of the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre, Make-a-Wish Foundation Singapore and Anglo Chinese School. He was previously Executive Director of the Singapore International Foundation and Executive Committee Member of the Asia Pacific Breweries Foundation. He was invited to committees of the national visioning processes “Singapore 21” and “Remaking Singapore”.

His 28 years as a doctor add invaluable interpersonal skill sets that enable him to help people help themselves. Apart from his general and specialist medical qualifications, his credentials helpful to coaching and mentoring include the Advanced Management Program of Harvard Business School, where he was elected valedictorian, the Medical Ethics Course of Imperial College UK and the External Coach Intensive Course of Columbia University’s Coaching Certification Program.
