Creativity is the ability to perceive relationships. Writing is the ability to enchant.

To write creatively you need:

Something you want to say to other people (or even to yourself).
What matters is that you DO have something to say.

A passion to inform, entertain or amuse.
Your focus is the other person – even if that other person is you.

A love of words – what they mean, how they sound, how they affect you.
Words must fill your mind all the time. When you see a beautiful flower, a butterfly, a thundering waterfall, a still, silent sunset or a beautiful face, you must struggle to express it in words arranged as nobody has ever arranged them before.

Do I have to write good English to write creatively? No, you don't.
To get your writing polished and 'easy on the reader's mind' you do need to write well. But 'well' in this context means 'simply'.

Do I need good ideas to write creatively? Yes, you do.
If you have difficulty identifying new ideas you may be not very alert. Alertness is to a writer what rain and sunshine are to a tree.

Can anyone write creatively? No, not everyone can.
Many more people are capable of writing creatively than think they can. But creative writing does not come easily; it requires hard work.

If I write creatively will I get my writing published? Not necessarily.
Getting work published is not a matter of having a willing publisher. It is about marketing your book. A good publisher will judge whether your book is marketable.

What makes a book creative? Good stories
The best teacher in the world is example; the second best, good story-telling.

Does good creative writing involve a lot of research? It can do.
What matters is that where you are writing about known events they should be correct. If you are writing a mixture of fact and fiction ('faction') research will make the fiction part of your writing much more credible.

Can I be taught to write well? I don’t know.
