50 years of peace, safety, stability

How does your organisation show its support for national service? What pro-NS policies does it have in place?

The first requirement of a good mentor is to be an example to those who seek his or her help. The mentors we have subscribe to the need for National Service. They recognise that beyond the essential support it gives to the nation it also develops the servicemen, exposes them to an aspect of life they would not otherwise see and gives them a sense of contributing and belonging.

Much has been said about leaders in recent months. The best education for budding leaders is to be with experienced leaders, to learn the importance of relevant discipline and to have an opportunity to demonstrate their leadership skills and abilities. For many whose education has been largely academic the practical aspects of NS are a much needed introduction to the real world.

The skills needed in future leaders are best developed in practical situations like NS.
